Introducing Kilo Pass: Stay in the Flow, Ship at Kilo Speed
Kilo launches Kilo Pass: our first subscription, built on everything 1 million developers have taught us.
What 1 Million Developers Taught Us
Nine months ago, we launched Kilo. This week, we crossed 1 million developers—processing over 20 trillion tokens and consistently holding the #1 spot on OpenRouter.
When you grow that fast, you learn what developers actually want—and what frustrates them about the other tools on the market.
AI Coding Tools Have a Transparency Problem
The industry made a flawed bet. They expected inference costs to drop 90% year over year, so they sold subscriptions at massive losses. Cursor’s $200 plan? Operating at -100% gross margin, betting that costs would collapse.
They didn’t. The price per token for frontier models stayed flat, token consumption exploded 10x, and the math broke.
Instead of fixing the pricing model, they throttled you:
Cursor rate-limits constantly and gates features behind higher tiers
Replit restricts agent capabilities based on your plan
Users are tired of getting locked into limited models, losing access to features, or hitting a wall mid-task because of opaque rate limits.
They want clarity. They want control. They came to Kilo.
The Kilo Difference
At Kilo, we’ve always done things differently.
Transparent pricing from day one. Your Kilo balance is just money—real dollars you top up and spend. No opaque credits. No hidden conversions. No markup on model pricing. You pay exactly what OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google charges.
Access to everything. 500+ models—free, open-weight, budget, or frontier (Opus 4.5, GPT 5.2, Gemini 3 Pro). Use your balance across IDE, CLI, Cloud Agents, and App Builder. One balance powers it all.
Unprecedented shipping speed. In the last month alone we shipped: Cloud Agents, Parallel Agents, App Builder, Code Reviewer. We call it Kilo Speed. Every user gets access to every product—whether you’re an individual or on a team.
Never throttle the user. This has been our principle from the start. It’s why 1M+ developers trust us with over 20 trillion tokens and counting.
Introducing Kilo Pass
A monthly or annual subscription that rewards sustained usage with free bonus credits and keeps you in the flow.
Core Principles
AI usage will always be at list price: no markups on provider rates
Your subscription dollars never expire—you never lose what you pay for
Free bonus credits reward momentum, so the longer you stay, the more you get
Use Kilo anywhere: IDE, CLI, Cloud, App Builder, always with the latest models
How It Works
Kilo Pass is a momentum subscription, not a discount plan. We’re selling flow.
Your monthly or annual payment converts 1:1 into credits that never expire, plus you'll get free bonus credits on top that expire at the end of the month.
Subscribe monthly or annually.
Your subscription amount is added monthly to your Kilo balance as paid credits (these never expire).
Get free bonus credits after you consume your monthly paid credits. For example, on the Starter plan ($19/mo), your free bonus credits unlock once you've used $19 in the current cycle.
The free bonus credits percentage increases the longer you stay subscribed or when you take an annual plan (calculate your free bonus credits with the Kilo Pass calculator).
Kilo Pass Tiers
Monthly
All monthly tiers start at 5% free bonus credits and increase by 5% each month, capping at 40% by month 8. First-time subscribers get a 50% welcome bonus in month 1.
Example: On the Pro plan ($49/mo), you get a 50% welcome bonus in month 1, then 10% in month 2, 15% in month 3, and so on—increasing by 5% each month. By month 8, you hit the 40% maximum and earn $19.60 in free bonus credits every month, giving you $68.60 in total monthly value.
Annual
Lock in the maximum free bonus credits percentage immediately. Subscribe to an annual plan and unlock 50% free bonus credits per month.
Key Terms
Limit of one subscription per customer.
Paid credits (your subscription dollars) never expire.
Free bonus credits unlock after consuming a month of pass credits and expire at the end of each monthly cycle.
Welcome bonus (50% free credits) is only valid for first-time Kilo Pass subscribers.
Expiring promotional credits (e.g. first top up bonus) are always consumed before paid credits.
The Future We’re Building For
AI usage is exploding. We now have parallel agents running simultaneously, longer autonomous runs before human feedback, and test-time scaling that burns 100x more compute on hard problems. Developers are consuming more tokens than ever—and that’s only accelerating.
This is a good thing! More tokens means more leverage, which means more work done, and more shipping.
But it only works if you can see what’s happening.
The industry’s response has been to hide this reality behind throttling and opaque credits. Our response is the opposite: radical transparency, so you stay in control.
When you see exactly what you’re consuming, you make better decisions. You split tasks efficiently, and you pick the right model and the right agent mode for the job. Ultimately, you ship faster.
That’s the Kilo way. That’s why we’re #1.
TL;DR
The future of coding means more AI, more tokens, more leverage. Kilo Pass is built for that future. Stay in the flow and ship at Kilo Speed.
AI usage always at cost. No markups.
Your money never expires—paid credits stay in your balance forever
Free bonus credits reward momentum, with up to 50% extra the longer you stay
Use it everywhere: IDE, CLI, Cloud Agents, App Builder
Access 500+ models
Never get throttled—that’s our promise.

As I understand it:
The boost credit is a measure for adding additional credits to a user with high throughput and keep him/her going as a gesture of kindness for being a loyal subscriber.
And as your loyalty level rises so does your credit boost to a certain max limit, but only if you need it on that month.
I don’t like that the boost credits only get added after I use my $19, that means if your a casual developer or more efficient with your models you could end up never getting the extra value of boosts credits. It would be better if they rolled over and you got that value earlier.
You want to reward loyal customers but it also punishes people who are more efficient with their inference use or are more casual.
I don’t see how this benefits non power users, I’m just giving you an extra $19 a month for what?
