Coding Plans are live in Kilo
Coding Plans have landed in Kilo. The first one is MiniMax - and there's a lot more coming.
You buy them with the credits already sitting on your Kilo balance, and use them across every Kilo Code product and the Kilo Gateway.
Unlock the power of the top token plans
Coding plans offer more bang for the buck, allowing for more tokens and requests at a fraction of the cost. Many developers want to go direct to model labs and providers, then find that BYOK setups in the tools in their stack can be time-consuming and confusing. How do you actually make use of those higher limits and faster inference?
That’s why we’re making external token plans available directly in Kilo. We already support coding plan subscriptions via BYOK, but now you can add a coding plan without leaving your Kilo dashboard.
Nobody runs one tool anymore. Most engineers run between two and four at once, and a sizable chunk run five or more. And every one of those tools is a moving target - constant shifts in pricing and product features that you don’t control.
Just in the last stretch: Roo Code shut down and took its workflows with it. GitHub Copilot moved every plan to usage-based token billing on June 1 - the flat fee stayed, but the unlimited ceiling didn’t. One was a product decision, the other a pricing decision, but from your seat the lesson is the same: build around a single vendor and their next change is your problem.
We’ve said since day 1 that unlimited pricing was never going to last. But no single price hike or shutdown is really the problem - the problem is that your whole setup hangs on decisions you never get a vote in. What survives the next one is a workflow that doesn’t lean on any single vendor, built to outlast the churn.
One transparent balance, 500+ models
This is why Kilo runs on a balance and the Kilo Gateway instead of a pile of separate subscriptions. It’s all about flexibility, without sacrificing performance.
Your Kilo balance is transparent and yours to spend. It gives you easy access to 500+ models - combine frontier models with cheaper ones, route the boring middle of the work to budget options, and run local models when you need to, for compliance or anything else. The vision is simple: centralize your inference in the Kilo Gateway, and let one balance power all of it.
Now your balance buys coding plans too
The new part: those same credits now buy coding plans. We’re launching with MiniMax, and there’s more on the way.
We chose MiniMax as our launch partner to help you take advantage of their newest flagship model, M3, for everyday coding with generous usage limits.
MiniMax is a strong first plan, and we picked it on merit: MiniMax M3, the open-weight lab’s latest model, sits in the top 10 most capable LLMs on our leaderboard at the moment. Our community went wild for its initial release, and as we’ve been testing it against SOTA models like Claude Opus 4.8, the results are similar performance at a 10x discount.
And that’s before the extra savings with a coding plan in Kilo!
MiniMax M3 is a 1M-context, natively multimodal model family that holds up across long documents, large codebases, and multi-agent runs. And because it lives on your Kilo balance, it doesn’t stand alone - the same balance gives you pay-as-you-go access to everything else in the gateway, BYOK for DeepSeek, Fireworks AI, and 16+ other providers, and room for whatever subscriptions you already run.
Reach for MiniMax where it shines, and reach for the rest of your stack when the task calls for it.

Make a good deal a great deal with Kilo Pass
Kilo Pass is a separate thing from a coding plan, and the two are better together. Pass tops up your balance on a recurring basis, but here’s the part that matters: you get bonus credits on top, so more money lands on your balance than you actually pay. That bonus grows over time - up to 40% extra on monthly plans and 50% on annual. On an annual plan, $228 paid becomes $342 of usable balance.
So pair the two. Your MiniMax coding plan covers the heavy lifting; Kilo Pass quietly stacks extra credits on your balance every month - credits that aren’t locked to one model or one plan. Spend the surplus on pay-as-you-go across the gateway, top up another coding plan, or both. A good deal on its own, a great one combined.
Note that you can also purchase coding plans with your Kilo Credits, even if you aren’t on a Kilo Pass plan. Kilo Pass just provides extra savings.
