Kilocode version 7 is not what I wanted. I've rolled back to version 5, and I hope you will fix v7 and bring back all the features we loved. Make v7 better than v5, not worse!
Why does version 7 perform really bad compared to version 5? It's faster sure, but prompts are misunderstand so much now, also when I tell the AI to do something, it sometimes does the complete opposite, and it just doesn't seem to read my instructions properly, I haven't had any issues with version 5 other then it being slow at time, version 7 is considerably quicker at doing things, but it seems like the AI became dumber or something.
It feels very off. Is there a way to revert to version 5 instead?
Yes, there is a way, luckily. Go to Settings->Extensions, find Kilo, click on the toggle on the right of Uninstall and select "Install specific version...". Select 5.12. After installed, you'll need to reload VS Code window. That's it!
Why was the creation of the plan file moved outside the project folder? By default, the agent’s settings require requesting access to external files, and the agent is initially prohibited from creating plans inside the project folder. As a result, during planning, it will always have to request access to the external environment. This also makes working with plans inconvenient.
Yeah, give those product managers (p)raise, because they killed yet another perfect tool. At this state, v7 is simply unusable. No informative data is there, and feels like it's made of some weird rectangles. Although I like your credits and have paid to support, I'm currently planning to downgrade / switch back to other forks.
It's worse now, and being forced to pay is kinda crazy, before you were able to keep using free, even if the models got worse. but now you're forced to pay after a couple free uses....
Hi Evolved, you can still use Kilo Auto Free and a series of free models. You only have to login to your Kilo account in the extension (or create one if you haven't).
Too Many Requests: Free model usage limit reached. Please try again later or upgrade to a paid model. (60s)
It was fun while it lasted, i guess all good things come to an end. I would pay, but I can't even properly test the free models, besides v7 has been a terrible experience so far, so I guess I'll move on to something else.
Restored to v5. Why should updates be actually downgrades? Why on earth does Kilo management think that they know better what we need as users then we do? Why do you guys kill the functionality and established workflows without even notifying "hey you'll lose your Kilo chat and all the features you loved but we added what we love take it or leave it!"?
We built agentic coding tools for example in your IDE (VS Code or JetBrains), CLI, cloud agents, code reviewer, and more. For the AI usage you can use 500+ models via our gateway, or bring your own keys. Does that make things more clear?
So, does that mean I no longer need to use qdrant + ollama (for embedding)? Because I don't see that setting in the new version. How is it stored and used now?

Do not forget to uncheck "Auto Update"

You successfully Kilo-ed great product (with Kilo Speed). New v7 is unusable!

Evolved, what model were you trying to use? There shouldn't be any changes to the free model availability.
ABC: When you release a new version it would be logical to refer to the version number, am I wrong??

Where is the OpenRouter integration available in the new VS Code extension?
Hi Markus, if you click on the settings cog > providers > and scroll down you'll see the option to connect your OpenRouter key
Use Kilo Code Ask Agent!
You might've told us what Kilo Code actually is. I got to this article, linked from a future article, and I still don't know.

Hey Ray, the codebase indexing for the new version is coming up soon. There’s already a PR open for this - https://github.com/Kilo-Org/kilocode/issues/6144.
Ligia Z do you mean the "update" actually introduced downgrade of what existed in the previous versions?
