for years we were told engineers either couldnt or didnt want to do this kind of work. seems like it takes eng leadership like you and tech. does the tech just make the 'reporting'/ info gathering part of this easier?

The tech frees up the time to do this work! That's the biggest change!

Well that's a good way to work, but I believe a much better way would be to skip measuring success and metrics, and go for what is a real need in a deep sense, even if nobody cares about it.

Talking to users and working with them is also a core part of our process. Metrics are a good indicator of whether or not we're headed in the right direction.
